30. october 2009 / DEVILS LOOKING RIGHT AT HOME ON THE ROAD

A late third period goal from Dainius Zubrus backed by a solid 31 save performance from goaltender Yann Danis propelled the Devils over the Bruins 2-1 Thursday night in Boston. The win is the Devils seventh in nine games and keeps them unbeaten on the road at 6-0. The team bounced back from a decisive 4-1 defeat to the Buffalo Sabres on Wednesday night with a strong showing despite coping with the injuries of defensive forward Jay Pandolfo and top line defenseman Paul Martin who are both expected to miss over five weeks of action.

New Jersey (7-4-0) made waves through the Eastern Conference last week by shutting out the Carolina Hurricanes 2-0 in a rematch from last year's short-lived playoffs, downing the rival Rangers 4-2 at Madison Square Garden and serving the Penguins their second loss of the season with a 4-1 thumping in Pittsburgh. Zach Parise tops the team in points with 5 goals and 5 assists, while Jamie Langenbrunner has 1 goal and 6 helpers. Rookie Niclas Bergfors (2 goals and 2 assists) is doing his best to add some extra offensive punch while Patrik Elias gets himself ready to return in the upcoming weeks.

The Devils will skate into Tampa Bay at 3 p.m. on Saturday to face the Lightning. (Dan Altano)
