6. december 2009 / PATRIK ELIAS DOWNS DETROIT IN SHOOTOUT
With the game tied at 3-3 and the shooutout locked at 1-1 during Saturday night's match with the Detroit Redwings, Patrik sent the Prudential Center crowd home happy with a fourth round game winner. Patrik skated down on Detroit goaltender Chris Osgood, faked a forehand shot and slid a backhander under Osgood's glove to put the Red Wings away. The win brought the Devils record to 19-7-1, good enough for second place in the Atlantic division behind the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Next up, the Devils travel to Buffalo on Monday night to try to even the season series with the Sabres at 1-1. Patrik has 28 points (7 g, 21 a) in 41 career games against Buffalo. (Dan Altano)
