9. february 2010 / PATRIK ELIAS RETURNS WITH TWO POINTS IN TWO GAMES
Patrik Elias has picked up a pair of assists in two games since rejoining his team after a concussion, but the Devils have dropped both. Monday night in Philadelphia, Patrik assisted on Zach Parise’s first period powerplay goal, but the Devils squandered a two-goal lead and lost the game 3-2. The Devils will only have to wait two days for revenge as they host the Flyers Wednesday night at 7 p.m.
Saturday night against the Rangers, Patrik joined a line with newly acquired sniper, Ilya Kovalchuk and the two stars wasted little time finding chemistry. On Patrik’s first shift back, he faked a slapshot from the high slot and found Kovalchuk all alone in front, but a great save by Henrik Lunquist kept Kovalchuk from getting his first score as a Devil. Patrik would later assist on Dainius Zubrus’ third period tally but it was not enough as the Rangers took the game 3-1.
The Devils (36-20-2) have struggled as of late, dropping 10 out of 14 as they try to hold onto the second place slot in the Eastern Conference. (Dan Altano)
