15. april 2009 / PATRIK ELIAS COMMENTS ON SERIES WITH CAROLINA
With the 82-game regular season in the books, Patrik Elias and the third seed New Jersey Devils will open a best of seven series with sixth seed Carolina Hurricanes tonight at the Prudential Center. Patrik had a moment to weigh in on the challenge ahead:
“It will be a very interesting and balanced series. Carolinaâs team is very fast, skilled technically and are well balanced between defensive strength and attack. Both teams have a good amount of players who have Stanley Cup Playoff experience and know how to be prepared for the pressures of the post-season which is very important this time of year. One of the Hurricaneâs strengths is its power-play, which we have to be careful about. On our side, our team has recovered its looseness and a healthy self-esteem. It is important to begin a series with a victory to build a psychological edge,” said Patrik Elias shortly before the first game of the 2009 playoffs.
Patrik has 34 points in 37 career games against Carolina. The puck drops tonight at 7:30 Eastern. (Dan Altano)
