26. april 2009 / CAROLINA FORCES GAME SEVEN SHOWDOWN
Faced with the possibility of elimination in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals, the Carolina Hurricanes put together a dominant performance in front of a home town crowd in Raleigh, North Carolina Sunday night with a decisive 4-0 victory over the New Jersey Devils to tie the series at three.
The Devils were unable to hold off a stellar Carolina attack that would not let up for the full 60 minutes.
“Although we started the game determined to win, our opponents were successful in blocking a lot of our shots and did not allow us to get into good positions to shoot,” said Patrik Elias after Sunday’s loss. “Their confidence at home played a big role as well,” he added.
Patrik and the Devils will now come back to New Jersey to play in front of their home crowd on Tuesday night for a pivotal Game 7.
“We just have to forget about Game 6 quickly, recover our energy, stay positive and prepare for the next game,” said Patrik. (Dan Altano)
