28. april 2009 / DEVILS ELIMINATED BY LATE FLURRY
The New Jersey Devil’s 2009 season came to a screeching halt Tuesday night at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. The Devils squandered a 3-2 lead with 1:20 left in the third period, letting up two goals in regulation to lose the game and the series 4-3 to the Carolina Hurricanes. The lost capped a back and forth series that had all the drama and suspense of playoff hockey through seven games. Despite goals from Jaimie Langenbrunner, Jay Pandolfo and Brian Rolston, the Devils could not put together a full 60-minute effort to close off the Hurricanes. Patrik Elias had three shots on goal.
